The Art of Layering

Hi Loves!

Unfortunately it is still winter but whenever there is a mild day I jump at the chance to layer up and most of the time ditch my coat. The biggest trick to the art of layering though is to always remember your shape! Walking around looking like a potato sack is not always cute.

This first out is very rocker chic! For my base layer I went with a simple black dress and some sheer black stockings. The next layer is a (faux) leather moto jacket that really adds warmth and the rocker edge. To keep things interesting and extra toasty I added an over-sized faux fur vest. Now I left it like this, but to finish it off and really put your waist on display throw a belt on to cinch everything in!

Okay now this next outfit is for the brave! I am not only layering but mixing prints. The trick to not looking like a hot mess of prints is to choose the same or very similar color palette. I am wearing black, obviously with both the top and bottom pieces. Another great tip for layering on prints is to keep them rather simple! Stripes are essentially the neutral of the print world and a micro geometric print is a great compliment.

Last look is this super comfy and casual outfit! I am honestly kind of obsessed with the aesthetic of the chunky sweater contrasting a sweet pleated skirt. The best way to not lose your shape in this type of outfit is to either messy tuck the sweater into the skirt or grab your favorite belt! I wish I grabbed a picture but trust me it looks cute.

Thanks for reading!

Anna
